Master Corporal Jim Love
Sr. Training Specialist
MCpl. Jim Love began his career with the Idaho State Police in April 1988 and upon graduation from the academy was assigned to Twin Falls (District 4) as a patrol officer. In 1989, while still in Twin Falls, he was assigned to the Speed Task Force team. This federally funded team traveled the state, saturating areas with an emphasis toward reducing speed and increasing seatbelt compliance. In 1990, MCpl. Love transferred from Twin Falls to Boise and continued his work with the Speed Task Force team.
After the Speed Task Force team was disbanded in 1994, MCpl. Love continued to work in the Bosie area as a patrol officer while also serving as a Field Training Officer (FTO) and background investigator. In November of 1996, MCpl. Love was assigned to the Governor's Office where he started the Executive Protection program for the Idaho State Police. In September of 2000, he was assigned to the Training Section.
Currently, MCpl. Love is the lead Firearms Instructor for the State Police, holding a POST-certification as a Master Firearms Instructor. He also serves as an instructor in Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC), Speed Detection and DUI/SFST.
