Official Government Website

Pursuant to Title 18 Chapter 83, Idaho Code this website is established as the official internet public access to the Idaho Central Sex Offender Registry's (SOR) sex offender registration computerized central database.

All information on individual registrants is based on registration information submitted by the Idaho County Sheriffs, Idaho Department of Corrections or the Idaho Juvenile Justice Department. The SOR cannot guarantee the records obtained through this site relate to the person about whom information is sought. Searches based on names, dates of birth, or other alphanumeric identifiers are not always accurate. The only way to positively link an individual to a specific sex offender record is though fingerprint verification. However, if you feel there is an error on a sex offender registration record, please report this to the local county sheriff the sex offender has verified their information with. The verification agency is listed in the sex offender's online registration information.

All information provided through this website is open record. It may be used by anyone for any purpose. However, it is your responsibility to make sure the records you access through this site pertain to the person about whom you are seeking information. Extreme care should be exercised in using any information obtained from this website. Neither the SOR nor the State of Idaho shall be responsible for any errors or omissions produced by secondary dissemination of this information. The Idaho Legislature mandates the following information regarding the offender not be public record: social security number, driver's license number, telephone number, online identifiers, and any additional information required by ISP for law enforcement purposes.

Anyone who uses any information on this website to injure, harass, or for any other unlawful purpose may be subject to criminal prosecution or civil liability.

The mapping component of the Sex Offender Registry was created as a supplemental tool for the public to use as a visual illustration of registered sex offenders' addresses. Users should understand that not all registrants' addresses can be mapped due to limitations of mapping software or due to the variances of the address data reported by local law enforcement to ISP.

I understand and agree to access the Sex Offender Registry website in accordance with the above statement.

Sex offender registration in Idaho began on July 1, 1993. It also established a statutory duty for persons convicted of certain felony sex crimes to register with their local sheriff. In 1998, the Legislature repealed the original act and enacted the "Sexual Offenders Registration Notification and Community Right-to-Know Act" to strengthen program administration and to expand public access to central registry information.

Also in 1998, they enacted the "Juvenile Sexual Offender Registration Notification and Community Right-to-Know Act." Under the previous law, only juveniles convicted as adults were subject to sex offender registration.

Both the new registration laws became effective July 1, 1998. The adult law is codified as Title 18, Chapter 83, Idaho Code (sections 18-8301 through 18-8331) and the juvenile law is codified as Title 18, Chapter 84 Idaho Code (sections 18-8401 through 18-8414).

SEXUAL OFFENDER REGISTRATION NOTIFICATION AND COMMUNITY RIGHT-TO-KNOW ACT 18-8302.

FINDINGS.

The legislature finds that sexual offenders present a significant risk of reoffense and that efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect their communities, conduct investigations and quickly apprehend offenders who commit sexual offenses are impaired by the lack of current information available about individuals who have been convicted of sexual offenses who live within their jurisdiction. The legislature further finds that providing public access to certain information about convicted sexual offenders assists parents in the protection of their children. Such access further provides a means for organizations that work with youth or other vulnerable populations to prevent sexual offenders from threatening those served by the organizations. Finally, public access assists the community in being observant of convicted sexual offenders in order to prevent them from recommitting sexual crimes. Therefore, this state’s policy is to assist efforts of local law enforcement agencies to protect communities by requiring sexual offenders to register with local law enforcement agencies and to make certain information about sexual offenders available to the public as provided in this chapter.
