Investigations has responded to unique criminal conduct and developed programs to address these issues. The programs are:
Crime Scene Response Unit:
Available to assist local law enforcement with processing crime scenes, this unit's protocol allows for three different levels of assistance to be available to local law enforcement. The unit will process the scene, or process the scene and work with assigned local law enforcement agency personnel or work the investigation to completion depending to the requesting agencies need.
Marijuana Eradication Program
Developed to combat the growing of marijuana, a key to this program is the ability for the citizens of Idaho to leave anonymous information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the Marijuana Hot Line. The toll free number is 1-800-524-7277 or 1-800-52GRASS. The information is immediately respond to the reporting party upon their request.

Another particular concern to the Idaho State Police is the attempt to legalize marijuana for use for some alleged medical conditions or as an agricultural crop.

Developed to deal with the investigation of methamphetamine labs including the processing of these highly toxic and dangerous sites. During 1999, this unit responded to 171 methamphetamine lab sites, which resulted in clean up costs in excess of $530,000. This cost does not include any costs borne by the property owner or landlord to return to the property to an inhabitable condition.
