Internships with the Idaho State Police
The Idaho State Police has many opportunities for students interested in law enforcement careers.
Below is the list of criteria required for ISP internship consideration:
Students must be in their junior or senior year of college.
Internship requested must be in relationship of their school major.
Students must be willing to work in an un-paid internship.
Students must speak to an Idaho State Police Manager or Supervisor who agrees to sponsor them during the internship.
Students must pass a complete background and polygraph examination to include
fingerprinting and compliance with the ISP
drug policy prior to acceptance.

Please submit the following for consideration into the ISP internship program:
School advisor contact information.
Student contact information.
Copies of transcripts from institutions the student has attended.
Letter of intent including the internship criteria desired and what goals the student wants to achieve.
Letter of recommendation from the department head or a professor of the student's declared major.
Name of the Idaho State Police sponsor.
After we receive all application information, the student will be notified of approval and the background check process will begin. Due to the depth of the ISP background check, it can take 30-60 days to complete. After successful completion of the background check, the student is again notified and scheduled to begin the internship.
