These centers are staffed by Regional Communications Officers (RCOs), Regional Communications Supervisors (RCSs) and Regional Communications Center Coordinators (RCCC).
Our RCOs receive a minimum of 4 months on the job training with a Communications Training Officer and must successfully complete all phases prior to beginning to dispatch on their own. On-going training augments this initial training and all RCOs complete the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Dispatch Academy to further strengthen their dispatching skills.
The quality of the equipment used is of no significance if the communication personnel fail to put into practice the training they have been given. We have approximately 40 dispatchers combined in both centers to handle our calls for service. Our RCOs are the critical link between officers and the public. Our RCOs save seconds and seconds can save lives during an emergency.
